Good afternoon. I just realized that it has been a while since I last posted, however, I hope that everyone has seen our weekly newsletters that have been coming home. The end of the school year is right around the corner, and we have many things planned. There are about 4 field trips coming up as well, which I promise will be lots of fun. Please make sure that permission slips get returned to school on time so that we can get lunch counts turned in.
Spring Break is next week. We will not have school for the entire week after Easter, so I hope everyone has a great time off. I'm not sure about all of you, but I am hoping for great weather to help the break be more enjoyable. School will resume on Monday, April 24th.
Last but not least, if anyone would like to donate class snacks, that would be great. We love having a snack halfway through the afternoon to help keep us going! Thank you for everything you do, and please contact me with any questions or concerns! :)

Good afternoon! Is it just me, or is March just flying by way too fast already? Before we know it school will be out for the summer, and that is just crazy to me! Anyways, this week is a short school week, and we do not have school on Thursday or Friday. I hope you all have a great 4 day weekend.
In case anyone was wondering, there was no homework packet for this week. Students were only supposed to be reading every night for their normal 20 minutes. Make sure to be writing it on reading calendars :).
If you have any questions, please contact me. Thanks so much for always being so great!

Here are the activities planned for the week, as well as dress up days:
Monday – Crazy socks
Tuesday – Wear Green, and as much as possible
Wednesday – Wear your clothes silly (backwards, inside out, mismatched)
Thursday – PJ day
Today is also our read-a-thon. We will have a read-a-thon the last hour of the day. There will be a treat cart that comes around so that the students can buy a few treats for themselves. Students can bring no more than $2.00 to buy treats. This will be so much fun!
Friday – Favorite hat day
There are also reading challenges for students to do nightly. The class with the highest percentage of participation will get a prize. Hat sales are also going on for $3.00.
If you have any other questions, please ask. I hope you all have a wonderful week! :)
February is here, and I think we may be on the uphill climb to get warmer weather. Well, I'm crossing my fingers at least! It has been a busy past month, and I want to apologize for not posting last week. The time really got away from me!
Our Valentine's Day party is next Tuesday, the 14th.. Please remember to have students make a box to bring to school to hold their valentines. It should not be so big that it will not fit on their desk. Also, we have 20 students, so please make sure your child brings valentines for everyone, so that no one feels left out.
Thank you to every one of you for coming to S.E.P. week It was such a success, and it is because of all of you. I feel like we set some wonderful goals, and I can not wait to watch students achieve them.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great week!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We have a very fun event coming up this week. We are having our annual "Dads and Donuts." It will be held Wednesday, January 25, from 8-8:30. There is a flyer posted below this post that has more information in regards to this fun event. Remember, any father figure is welcome. Whether is be a dad, grandpa, uncle, cousin, or big brother, we would love to see everyone here! :)
Next week is SEP week. If you have not had a chance to sign up, please do so by Wednesday. I will be sending home notes for those that have not signed up yet on Thursday. During SEP week, students are dismissed from school each day at 2:30, even on Wednesday. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
We are also asking for donations if possible. We have almost run completely out of baby wipes. We use these on a daily basis to wash our hands before eating lunch. There are some other items that would be appreciated as well. Please see our Wishlist tab for a list of these items. Anything is appreciated anytime! :) Thanks for all you do to go above and beyond to help out our classroom.
* January 25 - Dad and Donuts 8-8:30
* January 30 - February 3 - SEP week school dismissed at 2:30
Can you believe it is almost the end of January? Wow! Where does the time go? Anyways, I want to remind everyone that SEP week is the last week of January/first week of February. I sent out an email that contained a link for everyone to sign up. Please sign up as soon as possible. That will help ensure that you get a time that works for you. If none of the available times work, please let me know, and we can work something out. Remember that school dismisses at 2:30 that entire week, even Wednesday.
I hope everyone has enjoyed the pictures I added to our pictures tab. There are definitely some fun ones to look at. How lucky am I to have such an adorable class?!?! If you want a copy of any of them, feel free to copy them, or send me an email, and I can forward them to you.
Last but not least, if you have a chance, please take a look at our wishlist tab. There are a few items on there that would be great to have donated! Thanks again for all that you do. I appreciate you all more than you know!
Winter has hit full force, and it is cold! Please remember to make sure students bring jackets and/or a coat to school. I wore 2 jackets out to recess duty today, and I was still freezing! We go outside unless the snow or rain is too heavy. It makes for very cold recesses, so have your cute kiddos bundle up!
Please remember to be looking at weekly newsletters. I try to keep everyone updated with the latest info through that, or through emails. If you have not been getting my emails, please let me know so that I can check to make sure I have the correct address.
Please take a look at our wishlist tab to see if you can donate any of the supplies/goodies listed. We are starting to run low on a few things, and I always appreciate your help with donations.
It's that time of the year that students should be almost passing off their word lists through 800, as well as their math facts. Please talk to your child about where they stand, and let's get them passed off.
Once again, thank you for your continued support. You are the greatest! :) Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
* January 13 - Model Mustang assembly 10:30
* January 16 - No School for MLK Day
Just a quick update,YES, there is school today! It's super snowy, and very cold, but school will resume as normal. However, being that it is negative degrees outside, we will definitely be staying in for morning recess. I am not sure about other recesses though. Stay tuned for more updates from our news room, Mrs. Coon, channel 10! :)
I can't believe that the end of 2016 is here already. It has been such a great year so far, and I am so blessed that I have been able to be a part of all of your lives. Thank you for everything you have done for our class. You are all the greatest!
Just a few updates about the remainder of the week. Tomorrow, Wednesday, December 21,, will be our Christmas party. It will be from 12:15-1:30. We will be watching a Christmas movie, and eating yummy treats. Kids can wear their pajamas to school tomorrow to be nice and cozy. They may also bring a blanket and/or a stuffed animal to cuddle while watching our movie. It will be so much fun!
Today has been such a great day so far, and to make it even better, we got a special delivery! A little over a week ago, we wrote Santa letters telling him whether we have been good or bad, and something we would like for Christmas. Well, today he wrote us back! Please make sure to ask your kiddos about these letters, they are pretty amazing!
Last but not least, thank you again for everything! Without all of you amazing parents, we could not be as successful as we are! Thank you for the continued love and support, each and every day. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! See you back to school on January 3, 2017!
Mrs. Coon :)
Hi. My name is Mrs. Coon, and I grew up in Southern California. I moved to Cedar City in 2000, and I love it here! I have been teaching for 15 years, 13 of which were in St. George teaching 4th grade. This is my 2nd year teaching 2nd grade in Iron County. I am so thrilled to be teaching at Fiddlers Canyon Elementary. It is a wonderful school, with even more wonderful students and parents! :)
